Olympics - The Sport of Cycling

I have thought long and hard about this. How can I have a blog on bicycles and not talk about the cycling events that are being held at the Olympics in Beijing, China. After all, I’m not a journalist. I’m not a professional in any way. I’m just a guy who likes to  ride. Then I went online and tried to find some information about our cycling team and what the schedule was for cycling. I looked in TV Guide and they didn’t mention cycling at all. So, I decided, what the heck, I talk about what I want to talk about and for the next 17 days, what’s going on in China is what I’m going to be talking about.

So, you can hunt all over and try to find information about the cycling events or you can come here and get a thumb nail summary of what is going on in the cycling world.

There are four major areas of cycling:

  • Road
  • Track
  • Mountain
  • BMX

Our American Team consists of 24 Athletes. I’m expecting that we will know them all pretty well by the end of the next 17 days. Here is the American team:

Kristin Armstrong,  Kyle Bennett, Michael Blatchford, Adam Craig, Mike Day, Adam Duvendeck, Michael Friedman, Georgia Gould, Sarah Hammer, George Hincapie, Jill Kintner, Bobby Lea, Levi Leipheimer, Giddeon Massie, Jason McCartney, Mary McConneloug, Amber Neben, Taylor Phinney, Jennie Reed, Donny Robinson, Christine Thorburn, Christian Vande Velde, Todd Wells and David Zabriskie

Here’s the schedule for the next two days. Then we have a break until next Wednesday, so I’ll put more of the schedule in later.

Saturday: Aug 9 - 11:00 a.m. Men’s Road Race

Sunday: Aug 10 - 2:00 p.m. Women’s Road Race

I wish I could be there.

More Tomorrow….
