Helmet For Cycling Should Always Be Worn When Biking
A bicycle helmet is a headgear made to be worn for riding a bike. They are manufactured to make the impact to your skull during a crash less forceful. Bikers all over the world use their headgear or helmet to protect themselves, especially in the events like marathons, down hill competitions and X games, or even for daily life uses. There are parameters for selecting the good helmet. Of course, the helmets have to be in compliance with safety regulations.
There are four things bikers consider whenever they want to purchase a helmet. First is the price since it has to be easy on the pocket. The second aspect is the way it fits. Of course, you would not like to see yourself wearing an unfit helmet. Third would be keeping it cool since it would be convenient for you if your helmet doesn’t heat up immediately and properly ventilates.
The fourth factor is its weight since light helmets are really advisable as you can easily turn your head for seeing the direction or any incoming vehicles and obstacles. And, by the way, if you are a biker with a good bike, you should also wear a cool helmet, right? Or, it must be with the attire. For example, X Game cyclists are usually wearing a marathon helmet that will be really awful in terms of comfort, just for a reason for looking good for the whole attire, gear and event.
But, the truth is, what helmet companies and manufacturers don’t want you to know is that you will receive most of the benefits with cheaper helmets as you normally do for the more expensive ones. Of course, the materials that are utilized for good quality helmets are durable and fit for protection and comfort, unlike for the cheaper helmets. But, spending money for a high quality helmet is worth the price of being provided with comfort and safety.
There are two major types of helmets, the hard shell and the soft or micro shell. Hard shells have declined rapidly in the general cyclist population over this period, almost gone by the end of the decade. However, they remained more known and used by BMX riders.
Three kinds of cycling helmets commonly used are the cross-country type of helmet for cycling as they reduce the air friction so you could gain you speed in no time and accelerate very well. Secondly, there is the carbon full-face helmet for cycling that is used for downhill riding and BMX. And, third, the common helmet is used for simple headgear.
There are advantages and disadvantages upon helmet cycling. This is something that many bikers are debating ‘til now. In some places, like London, helmets for cycling are compulsory and must be worn by bike riders for safety. But, for others, it is a cause of a much worse accident.
Apparently, there was an article about bike riding morbidity. It says that starting from the year the helmet was made not compulsory, more than seven hundred bikers died along the road of the United States of America. And, from the year that wearing a helmet for cycling was implemented and made compulsory, the number of morbidity decreased from 700 down to 20. Helmets can be purchased at around 20 dollars to 500 dollars.
